2026 National Table Tennis Championship Sets New Record for Participant Numbers

The 2026 National Table Tennis Championship concluded after 7 days of competition in Hanoi, with 247 athletes from 18 provinces and cities across the country — the highest number since the tournament was first held in 2026. In the men's team event, the Hanoi team successfully defended their title by defeating the Hai Phong team 3-1 in the final. Prior to that, Hanoi had eliminated Da Nang in the semi-finals with a 3-0 score. Notably, Hanoi player Nguyen Van Minh won all 4 singles matches throughout the tournament without losing a single game. In the women's team event, the Thanh Hoa delegation caused a major upset by winning the championship for the first time in history, defeating Hanoi 3-2 in a thrilling final. The decisive match between Vo Thi Huong (Thanh Hoa) and Tran Thi Lan (Hanoi) went to the 5th set, with the Thanh Hoa player winning at the crucial closing points. In the men's singles, the title went to 21-year-old Le Hung Viet from Ho Chi Minh City. He qualified through the southern regional rounds with impressive form before advancing to the national finals and defeating Nguyen Van Minh in the semi-final 3-2, in what was rated as the most exciting match of the tournament. In the final, Le Hung Viet defeated Tran Dinh Hoang (Hai Phong) more comfortably with a 3-0 victory. The women's singles saw Vo Thi Huong's dominance as she claimed the singles title after contributing significantly to Thanh Hoa's team success. She defeated Tran Thi Lan in the final 3-1. According to Hoang Dinh Giong, Head of the Organizing Committee, this year's tournament had higher professional quality than previous years thanks to the application of a new competition format and standardized table dimensions. At the end of the tournament, the organizing committee announced a list of 12 outstanding players for concentrated training ahead of upcoming regional and international competitions.
